Our family life was typical, filled with the usual ups and downs. For years, we rented a small apartment, until we finally managed to secure a mortgage for a modest two-bedroom home. Of course, this required some financial help.
Retirement should be a time of relaxation and enjoyment, but for Scott and Madeline, it also became a period of unexpected family responsibilities. Their plans for a peaceful retirement were complicated by their son Michael’s financial difficulties, which led to a delicate balancing act between supporting their son and enjoying their own hard-earned rest.
“Living with family can be a challenge, especially when space is tight. For the past three years, my husband Logan, our spirited four-year-old daughter Scarlett, and I have shared our home with Grandma Vivian. With Logan’s job as a teacher not stretching as far as we’d like, and my part-time work as a graphic designer barely covering childcare, moving out isn’t currently in the cards. Despite the close quarters, we’ve found ways to make it work and even thrive together.”
